Gardens

I have always been fascinated by the process of blossoming. It is with pleasure that I watch what evolves, plants, buildings, individuals, landscapes, societies, mode of thinking and of course glass.

Nature inspires me, its ability to renew itself, its simultaneous force and delicacy. The plant is at the heart of my work, as much in its form and detail as in its development. For me blown glass, in the process of creation, mirrors the growth of a plant sped up and made visible.

With blown glass the ball is the seed, it is responsible for the final form as the seed determines the eventual plant. In nature all is prepared at the interior before arriving in blossom at the exterior. I see my work in blown glass by the same light. When we look at a plant or a piece of glass the process is hidden. Nature is eternal but the individual ephemeral.

Glass, when it has become solid has ceased to evolve, but is it not itself eternal in its substance and ephemeral in its form?
